Sustainable & Regenerative Agriculture
Farmers are at the forefront of the climate and environmental crisis. Their livelihoods are directly impacted by extreme weather events. On the other hand, farmers have a critical role in stewarding our lands, soil, and water resources. They are able to directly mitigate climate change and improve our environment through sustainable and regenerative agricultural practises.
PIF farmers have taken their expertise in regenerative farming methods with them to their new homeland. Our growing practises largely rely on hand labor and low-impact machinery and refrain from using chemical fertilisers and pesticides. The benefits arising from this form of farming are multiple: from restoration of soil health and improved water use to crop resilience and drawing down carbon emissions.
Encouraging non-industrial farming practises, conservation programmes, and farm-diversification will support small-scale and family farmers as well as improve community food resiliency by building strong local food systems. In the long term, this will improve the chance that our soil and water remain healthy and able provide food for coming generations.
At PIF, we strongly believe in a sustainable approach to farming and food that focuses equally on people, economics, and environment. By investing in our soil, water, and climate through sustainable practices, our farmers give back to the land that supports their livelihood and feed over 500 Houston families fresh, organically grown* produce every week.

* We follow organic practices, however we are not Certified Organic by the USDA as it is not economically viable for our farmers to undergo the certification proces at our current scale.
