Rachel Lockhart Folkerts, Farm Programs Director
Rachel manages three PIF Programs: Farmer Education, Farm Services, and Volunteer & Community Engagement. She earned a B.A. in Environmental Science from Washington University in St. Louis, then spent two years serving as a Sustainable Agriculture Extension Agent with the US Peace Corps in Senegal. Prior to moving to Houston, Rachel managed an interdisciplinary, community-engaged research project at her alma mater. She also spent time as a grant writer at a New York-based non-profit.
Rachel speaks Wolof and French. Originally from Iowa, she loves living in Houston! She particularly enjoys the diversity this international city has to offer. And like PIF’s farmers, she loves the warm climate.
