Loyce Gayo, Enterprise Programs Manager

Loyce has been a Houstonian since immigrating here as a teenager with their family from Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. They founded the Egg Network to support food sovereignty in Houston by connecting backyard chicken owners to market opportunities for excess eggs. With a major in African & African Diaspora Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, they are passionate about efforts around Black migrant justice, equitable housing & tenant rights, arts advocacy and collective economics. They speak KiSwahili and English. They love Houston’s unique brand of kinship, it’s “here, grab a plate” welcoming attitude, the city’s boundlessness…and, of course, the food! Their favorite vegetables are the holy grail — the Destiny’s Child of culinary arts, if you will — onion, ginger, garlic.
