Amalekia Sanchez, Food Hub Associate

Amalekia is a Coahuiltecan native who believes in the self-sustainability of urban farming. After years of volunteering for multiple mutual aid groups in Houston, finding a place to help refugees feels like a great blessing to him. “The mission and vision of PIF is inspiring and I hope to learn as much as I can about urban farming to be able to grow food that would benefit my family and friends.” Amalekia is a core team member of PIF’s Food Hub, preparing daily fresh produce orders and maintaining the space for PIF’s farmer network. Amalekia’s favorite crop is a toss up between anything spicy and Starkrimson pears.
